Two things to try are reset the device.
If that doesn't work then restore network settings. Make sure you've done done a back up before.
Lastly, make sure you're using Apple chargers/cables,

If the above advice doesn't work, you may also want to have your battery checked. The device is 5 generations old so the battery could be at its end.
