Why can't I completely delete photos off iPad?

I can't completely delete photos off iPad

Even though I've set no photos to sync from the PC, and manually deleted all photos, there are 14,67 photos in a folder called "recently deleted photos". How can I free up that space?

Go to the folder and tap "Select" in upper right, then tap "Delete All" in lower left. Then tap "Delete XX Photos".
