How do I transfer my photos from iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6 without using ICloud?

I backed up my 5 to ICloud before purchasing the 6. I used ICloud to set up the new 6. Only a fraction of my photos on the 5 were transferred. Any help on how to move them would be appreciated.

If the photos were in your "photostream" and they were there past 30 days, those photos are automatically deleted from Apple's servers. If they were not in your photostream, initiate the Photos app, tap on "Photos" at the bottom and then scroll through the list to see if they appear.
