Why can't I add certain people to a group message?

Their name shows up in red with a note saying they are not registered with message. This did not start happening until I updated my iOS to the latest version. I can still send individual messages to them and continue to use groups created before my update. Could this have anything to do with family share?

Welcome to iMore! You might try deleting all previous message threads with those people, and ask them to do the same with you. I think both parties have to delete the threads. Let us know if that works or not.
