Some things to check first - do you have the Apple cable? Is your port clean? Have you tried a different port?
If these don't resolve the issue, have you restarted your computer?
If this doesn't resolve the issue, have you reset your iPhone by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time until the Apple logo appears?
