How can I access my ipad after downloading IOS 8.1 and forgetting the password?

I downloaded the IOS 8.1 on my ipad mini and cannot remember the passcode. It disabled the ipad and I can't get into it to try and fix it. It is most frustrating.

First of all, make sure that you?re running the latest version if iTunes. Then, just put your device in DFU mode and connect it to your computer/iTunes. It will download the latest iOS and install it for you. Good luck.

Hopefully you have a made a backup that you can use to then restore it back. The passcode will not be restored from the backup.
