Why are songs freezing up during playback on my iPod Nano & iPod Classic?

I have an Ipod nano and Ipod classic that have started to freeze up during a song, and then go on to the next song. I've looked to see if the song will do it in ITunes, but it does not. Just on the Ipods. I've reset, reloaded, done all I know to do to try and fix the problem. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do you use an equalizer setting? If so, disable it and then see if those songs freeze/crash.
