Ideally, stuff that can be downloaded again ealily, like purchased apps, media, does not need to be. Only configuration data (list of apps, their associated configuration, email setup info etc) and pictures (not synced to Photosync) would need to be backed up.
I'm wondering if 20 GB (very cheap now) will be enough for backing up 3 iphones ....
