Why do I keep getting messages from Facebook even though I've deleted the app?

I keep getting messages from Facebook on my iPhone 4 even though I thought I took off messenger and Facebook. I've turned everything 'off' that I can think of. Why am I still getting notifications from Facebook?

Go to Settings - Facebook and then sign out. Although i assume you deleted the official Facebook app, you're probably still logged into to Facebook via the native option on the device.

What D said. Also, you may have been logged in to Facebook in Safari. Logging out in Safari may have worked. But what D suggests will for sure.
