Should I buy an iPhone that was found by a friend?

This isn't a moral question. My friend found an iPhone and wants to sell it off. My girlfriend needs a phone. The phone is locked, but as long as I have access to iTunes I can wipe it clean and it'll unlock right?

Again, not a question of morals, I'm sure this person hates having lost their phone, but this hot option might be the only way I get my hands on a phone for the GF, on top of that if I had found it I would return it, but since a $75 deposit would have to be put on the phone there is no way I'm gonna even try after dropping 75 bucks....

Just worried about wasting money, please help guys.

I'm sorry we are not going to help you. It may not be a moral question for you but it is for me. And apple as well that's why the phone will be a brick to whoever buys it. Can't bypass the lock.
