Why doesn't the calendar work on my iPad?

My calendar doesn't work at all. It works fine on my daughters ipad but not mine

Mine stopped working too. All events scheduled by me disappeared. Can't schedule anything (+ signed turned from red to grey). Per scheduled holidays etc do appear. Help!
