How do I have twitter alert my mac

Is it possible through twitter or a third party program to have it alert my mac when everyone or someone sends out at tweet? I want it to do something like every day when I get the alert "Update Available" because I don't want to update. Something like this: http://i.imgur.com/hI4Shi5.png
