Will a new iPod Classic be fine if I left it unused in the box?

Hi everyone. I want to get an iPod Classic (New) now rather than later because I think Apple might discontinue it because the sales have been going down A LOT over the last few years. I wanted to know how it would affect the iPod if I left it in the box for a few (2-4 maybe) years until my 80 GB Classic dies. I don't think it will affect anything because it's brand new. I'm guessing that if I leave it in the correct temperature setting it will be fine, but I just wanted to make sure. Any help? Thanks!

It should be fine. I'd leave it out of direct sunlight or really humid areas, but that kind of goes without saying.

Thanks everyone, those were my thoughts too... I'm thinking of just leaving it in my dresser or something. BTW for some reason the thread title got changed, did a mod do that or something? I have no idea.......??
