Why isn't my computer allowing me to import edited & unedited iPhone pics?

I imported photos to my computer from my iphone 5. I realised I needed to edit them on the phone so I deleted the folder from the computer. I edited the photos and now when I go to import, it will only import the edited photos, not all the others again. My computer reckons the photos are still on it. they are not in recycle.

If you still have both the unedited and edited versions on your iPhone, try importing them to a different folder on your computer.
