Iphone 5 drops calls and doesn't ring sometimes or vibrate!

The mute is not on and the volume is turned to high!

Could it be it's not the phone, but rather it's your carrier? Maybe they are having trouble in your area? Happening all the time, or just certain times? Is it happening anywhere or just in certain areas?

Try Reset Network Settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset> Reset Network Settings Tap that. You may have to add your wifi passcode back in afterward.
