How do I know who called and hung up while I was on another call?

While on a phone call on my iphone 4 I hear beeps and then a dial tone alerting me that someone called and then hung up. I never know who called because there is never a message/alert that I missed a call. Is there some setting that needs to be changed, or do I have to just hope they call back?

It should show up in the Phone app on the RECENTS tab.

What kind of phone do you have? When I'm on a call and am alerted that another call is being received, I can look at the display and see who's calling, whether it's a phone number or a name from my contact list.
