No volume on iPad Air

I have an iPad Air that seemed to work fine last evening, but today I can't get any sound from anything. No alarm clock this morning, no sound when an email is sent, no video sound from any site or app.
The volume switch is on, the volume up and down buttons seem to work and the icon shows the volume being adjusted up and down when I use the volume control switches. It also shows if I turn the volume switch to the on or off positions.
I've looked in Settings but can't find anything there, and I've turned off Bluetooth, and I've done two reboots.
Anybody have some insight?

Well that was quick, LOL. After typing the above question and closing out of the app, I performed another reboot, tried a couple of video clips and everything seems to be working as normal as ever. Strange but good.
