My laptop won't recognize my iPhone 5C or my iPad. What can I do?

my itunes on my lap top will not recognize my iPhone 5c or my ipad. my old lap top does but the new one doesn't and I have already followed all the directions checking the drivers etc and evening clicking repair on apple and itune icons

Have you checked the USB/lightning cable that you're connecting the devices with? Is it possible that it is damaged? I would try a different lightning cable and see if your laptop will recognize your devices? By the way, did your laptop ever recognized them? If not, how old is it?

Not that this would be the cure all but have you ever tried to see if a desktop USB recognizes your phone to try and narrow down what it could be on the laptop? Hopefully you have iTunes on a desktop to try.

Are the versions the same on both laptops, and could the laptop recognize them before?
