Welcome to iMore. may I ask if because you are trying to make up your mind? If you wish to keep the phone for a long time and want the top of the line then go with the 5S which had Touch ID(Fingerprint) to unlock your phone not to mention better interior components. The 5C is a great phone aswell but a small step below and you would not be unhappy with it.

I would suggest to to go to www.apple.com and bring both phones side by side to compare and of course price. You will have to make the final decision but there is no wrong answer when it comes to the iPhone.

Both are great devices. The iPhone 5s is Apple's current flagship phone with a faster processor than the 5c. It also has the Touch ID. I suggest you visit your nearest Apple store or your provider and take a look at both. Good luck.

which phone

I'd say go with the 5s if possible. I believe you'll be happier with it longer. ...and welcome to the forums!

It's not about which is better. The 5S has a faster chip, better cam and Touch ID so it depends what the user wants and what will work for user and if they want the new features.

The 5s by specs.

The 5c by looks.

This is just my opinion and it likely doesn't reflect others feelings here.

Perhaps a bit of clarity then on my comment...the 5c is their MODERN entry level device. The 4S is approaching 3 years old...I don't consider when thinking of the current offerings.

If you really just had enough for the 5c, go for it, or if you really love the colors and/or smooth plastic build, otherwise get the 5s and you are all set.

My wife just got the 32 gb 5c and loves it. Got it free with Verizon's 2 yr contract. The 16 gb 5s would have cost $199.99.

In that case seems like the 5c was the right choice. I could certainly live with a white 5c.

The 5S is Apple's flagship device, the 5c is the entry level device.

By "entry level device" I assume you are just making a direct comparison between the two phones being discussed here. The 5C is virtually the same as the iP5 (except for the goofy color options, the last gen flagship, so...it isn't really different enough to be considered the new entry level device (IMO). Seems like the 4S holds that distinction.

My wife just got the blue-ish one. It is a great phone (except for the color) and she loves it. It was a gift from AT&T. Ok...so not really a gift, but AT&T covered the $99 cost of the phone as well as the upgrade charge.
