iPad update; now it wants a passcode

I chose to install an iPad update because a window popped up on the device recommending it. Update is complete, but now it wants a passcode. how do I recall it? There is no option for "forgot passcode"

It's asking for the password for your Apple ID the one you use to download apps from the App Store

It could also be the unlock code to unlock your device

If it's asking you to add a passcode you don't have to.. But if one is already stored you will need to put the code in...
