iMessage on a Mac

I am currently using a Mac running on mountain lion 10.7.5

How do I use iMessaging? I can not find it on my computer.

Hello and welcome to iMore.

I think you can't get iMessage on ML 10.7.5 correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it is a feature for ML 10.8 and above. So if you can upgrade your Mac, you should get it automatically, but if you can't I guess you're stuck there, sorry.

If you upgrade to Mavericks for free on the MAC App Store on your computer it's free and will be in your dock.

It will use your Apple ID to message with but you can add your phone number and get and send iMessages from your computer using your phone number.

Unfortunately, OSX Lion was only privy to the beta of the Messages app. You should definitely upgrade to Mavericks to enjoy the function...it is by far one of my favorite functions of my Macbook Pro.

Mavericks is free and very enjoyable. You should consider upgrading! That way you can use iMessage.
