No sound on iPad 4

Hi I have no volume control or icons on my ipad....the keypad noises are working fine but I've followed various on line threads but I don't have the volume control available when I swipe up from my home button please help....it was working fine when I went to bed!!

Welcome to iMore! ... Have you tried rebooting your iPad yet? And I would also double check to make sure that you haven't connected to any bluetooth speakers / headphones as sometimes they stay connected and channel the sound to the other device.

Definitely I would just try and reboot the device as mentioned and that should do it.

Also check your side switch to see if it's set to mute, as you may have hit it by mistake. I'm not sure if it's an iOS glitch but I always have my side switch set to lock rotation and I noticed a couple times after powering my device from a dead battery that the switch changed to mute. Since I keep the rotation locked it automatically muted my iPad. The 1st time it happened I thought my iPad was broken, now if that issue arises I know exactly where to look. Good Luck!!!
