I unlocked my iPhone 3GS using Cydia, thinking it would work with any provider.

After I jailbreak my iphone 3gs using Redsnow, I unlocked using Cydia thinking it would work with any provider. However, it shows searching/no signal. Just a quick background on my iphone, it was built after week 34 (week 42 in 2011). its on 6.1.3 using firmware 5.16.08.

Under Settings>>>General>>>About>>>Carrier...it recognizes different carrier sim cards but no signal.

I have tried airplane, reset network setting but none of them work.

Please help...

As far as I know, regardless of what firmware you're on, the free unlocks no longer work because of implementations the cellular carriers have put into place over the last 6 months or so. Essentially, unlocks are only available through very pricy services now.

Are the cards you're putting in active? (That is, can you get service/make calls with them in other phones?)
