When trying to iMessage friends, green chat bubbles appear instead of blue.

I attempted to activate imessage on my new iphone 5S. I've followed all online instructions, have an accurate and validated apple ID, but when I attempt to chat/text with my friend, I'm only getting the green SMS chats available vs. the blue ones. Can you assist me in trouble-shooting?

Does your friend have an iPhone if not it will default to green SMS

If your friend doesn't have iMessage turned on they'll get regular green texts.

IF all is good on your end and his meaning what the others asked you before me, Try and reset your Network Settings and see if this make s a difference unless like I said, That one of the pieces of advice turns out to be the problem. Good luck and please let us know if we can be of any further help.
