deleting contacts and calendar from an iPhone 5

We want to transfer the phone number from an iPhone 5 from one of our cell numbers to another.
Before we do this we need to delete the current calendar and contacts info from the iPhone so we don't have duplication.
How do we do this?

Are the contacts and the calendar the only things you want wiped from the phone or the entire phone?

Is it the same apple id? if not just wipe the phone- under settings- general- reset- that way its starts out fresh and they can sign in with their apple id

How do we do this?

Just go to the email account associated with the contacts and calendar in the Settings (Settings-Mail, Contacts, Calendar) and then disable syncing of both. You will be asked if you want to delete the contacts and calendar from the device. Choose to delete them from the device.
