MAC wont update

I

iMore Question

I need to install new printer software to my mac, but it says my mac is out dated. I'm running an old version 10.5.8 and know I need to update, but when I go to system updates it says my computer systems are updated and there is no software updates available. How do I upgrade to the new systems?

Hello and welcome to iMore ... Unfortunately 10.5.8 is the end of the road for OSX Leopard, you will need to identify the minimum version number for your printer driver and then purchase the appropriate version of OSX for your machine.

If the machine is capable of running Mavericks - that's a free upgrade... just a matter of getting it on your machine... try here: Apple - Upgrade your Mac to OS?X?Mavericks. -- you might want to consider checking with an AppleGenius about options to get the install file on a USB thumb drive or DVD if you have no other way of getting it.
