iPad Gray wallpaper can't change

So I have never had this problem before but now. It has come
Whenever I power on my iPad 4 the home screen wallpaper is there but the home screen is just gray.
I have ios7 and strangely when I double tap home to the windows I can see the wallpaper in the home window. HELP

I have never experienced anything like that so I can only suggest that you either reset your settings or reset your home screen settings. Both options can be found by going to Settings->General->Reset

I'm having the same grey wallpaper issue. I ran my battery down yesterday and after recharging, the grey started. I can see the silouette of the wallpaper but it's all grey shadows.

I've changed the wallpaper to a stock iPad graphic, no change - still greyed out.

Any thoughts?

Got it! Needed to power off and restart - should have done that first!
