Notes won't open iphone 5

[iMore Question]

My notes on iPhone 5 will not open. I press the symbol and the notes page of ruled lines flashes on the screen for a couple of seconds and then goes back to my home screen. I have attached my phone to my computer hoping this would help, I have switched the phone on and off and still no luck, anyone have an answer?
