Why did my emails recently stop coming to my iPhone and iPad?

I always got emails automatically to both devices. But in the last few weeks, I keep getting the message "can't connect to internet".

But a few emails get through.

As a general rule but the answer and suggestion of trying to delete the email account and re adding it, that usually does it. That is what direction I would go.
