can't access phone, can't swipe to power down

iphone 4s will not allow swipe to unlock or power down phone, what can I do

1. Try holding the power button until you see the slide to power off option

2. Simultaneously press and hold both the power button and home button until your phone powers off

3. Put your iPhone in DFU mode and restore it via iTunes as a last resort only.
