Character count....

I just got my iPhone 5s and have turned on the character count in settings but when I text, i see no count. Am i missing something?

I have tried the same.. Maybe it only applies to non iMessages?

I tried a non smart phone number and I don't see anything...

For me, it will only show up once the message takes 2 lines space or more.
