If I have the Verizon version of both of these, can I swap the sim (?) cards so I can use either one of them as needed on data without paying double connection fees?

It's just a matter of using the right tool to pop open the SIM slot door and move the sim from one to the other... and I should have noted above the SIM swap should work fine for LTE coverage... but if you're going to need legacy CDMA/3G support - you'd need to go to your 'MyVerizon' account and on the number for your iPad - enter the CDMA MEID in order for it to be recognized by Verizon's CDMA network.

Thanks for all your help. I just didn't want to invest in the a cellular version of the new Mini, if it couldn't be done. I would have just saved money by buying a wifi only Mini and tether it to my 5s.

Thanks again!

From a practicality standpoint... tethering would work too without having to do anything but enable it... :)
