i pod screen less responsive

The screen on my i pod has become less responsive, ie won't let me do much more than choose podcast and alter volume. I have restored it but no better. Only just out of guarantee. Any ideas?

You already tried the main thing I would suggest. Was the device subjected to a drop or exposed to moisture? It's possible this is a hardware issue. There ARE places that will attempt to repair them, however it might not be cost effective.
