forgot password on iPad2

Hi

I forgot my password on my iPad2. Device syncs to my computer, but when i try and "restore" the device, i get an error message "ipad software update server could not be contacted".

I have now tried a hundred times. What gives?

Is your iPad jailbroken? If so, u need to place it in dfu mode, then restore as new. Good luck

If the device is installed with iOS 7 and the Find My iPhone feature is enabled, you will not be able to restore the device without first inputting your Apple ID and password. Check out the information via the following link:

I've read somewhere that if you put the phone/iPad in DFU mode, and then restore, it erases the iCloud account.(?)

That would only work on iOS 6 and iOS 5. Otherwise the iCloud activation would be useless.

Just wipe the device using iCloud if you set it up.

Hmmm, so it's impossible go back to ios6 and then do it? A downgrade.

You can. Just go to iCloud.com and wipe the device from there. It clears the password off the device.
