Facebook Messenger Notification help (iOS6/iPhone 5)

I need some help getting Facebook Messenger to send me push notification. I feel like I have checked all the settings in the app, on the phone and online and can't figure out why I can't receive notifications. Has anyone encountered this issue and been able to fix it? I am using an iPhone 5 w/ iOS 6

The Messenger app is working fine for me in regards to notifications. I am not getting the sound effects of notifications for the Facebook app itself though. FB Messenger though, working fine for me.

Open the app, while you're seeing the chat screen, swipe left. The top right of the screen, just past the search section, there's a gear icon for settings. Give it a tap and make sure the Notifications is set to ON.

At this time, I am getting an update but I do not have the Facebook messenger app, it is the Facebook app itself. I guess we will now see how cute they made it in comparison to the app for ios.

hey! did you find a solution for the soud effects? i have the same problem and i really need to change it
