There might be a way to delete them without a jailbreak, go to (Settings) and then (Mail, Contacts, Calenders) choose your email account, and turn (Contacts) on, now you should get a pop-up message like this {What would you like to do with existing local contacts on your iPhone?} then just tap delete.

How about Settings-General-Reset-Reset all content and Settings? Is that too hard?

If you go to the App Store and search erase contacts there's An app that will delete them all without jail break
