The software updates for the Watch come packaged with iOS updates.

You can only get WatchOS 2.2.2 if you're using iOS 9.3.3.

The software updates for the Watch comes packaged with iOS updates. I wouldn't expect for you to be able to install WatchOS 2.2.2 because WatchOS 3 is included with the iOS 10 Betas, not 2.2.2.

Watch OS 3 is not included with the iOS 10 betas. People who are on public beta don't get it. You get it if you have a dev account and by installing the watch configuration profile or by finding the profile in the wild.

I have since then edited my post. In any case, you still can't install WatchOS 2.x from iOS 10.

EDIT:

I did some digging and maybe it's a bug?

You did? I wonder why it's hit or miss with people on the PB

I installed 2.2.2 on iOS 10 PB. There's a trick to it though. If you elected to install the watchOS beta profile when you signed up for the iOS 10 beta you will not see the 2.2.2 update. To fix, open your Watch app, go to General > Profiles, delete the beta profile, restart your Watch, and you should see the update.

Updated my Watch this morning to 2.2.2, phone was still on 9.3.2, took about 15 mins overall. Very happy with the update, battery life seems improved as well-so far 12 hr stand by with about 3 hrs usage and I'm at 45% I'll take it

This is more proof to show that a watch update is not packaged in an OS and that 9.3.3 wasn't required. Good post.
