From where does AW get its time?

I read a post, indicating that if you had a whole room of people wearing AWs with the Mickey Mouse face, all the watches would be in perfect sync. That is, all the Mickeys would be taping their feet in perfect sync. I had always assumed that the AW mirrored your phone, so the time came from your carrier. With all the different carriers that there are, they may not be exactly in sync. So, where does AW get the time that it displays? I never really checked, does AW display time without a turned on iPhone?

Yes.

Via the iPhone it syncs to... and the phone gets its time regularly tweaked via connections to network time servers that constantly sync to GPS and accounts for adjustments in network delay... the Watch should stay within 50ms of the GPS clock signal when tethered to an iPhone.
