Crown too loose

If I do not apply enough pressure to the side of the crown while turning, it just spins. I actually have to press firmly to the side of the crown to get it to register the scroll. Is this typical? Is anyone else having this problem?

No, it is not typical, and no, I'm not having that problem. If you have Apple Care +, I recommend you use it to get your Watch replaced, if you're beyond the return period.
