Why no hiking option in the exercise app?

I went on an 8 mile hike the other day and it struck me that the watch doesn't have a hiking icon in the exercise app. Samsung watches do have this feature. I don't understand why since the watch has all the sensors needed to track a good hike. I ended up just using outdoor walk but not sure if it was accurate.

I agree they could add more criteria to the activity app

Rome wasn't built in a day. I think there will be more and more options added over time. Hiking would be nice and so would different types of sports. I would like to see tennis and basketball.

Hiking is an all day event and the battery would never last that long in activity mode. But it will turn up in later watches with better battery I'm sure. For now just use some app on the phone.

ummm nobody has said this yet but...

you're supposed to start the activity and it uses an altimeter to measure heigh and inclination. so it makes sense that there's no hike mode. it's just an inclined walk
