Why don't I get a notification when I get a reply on my Watch?

Notifications on  Watch

If I'm having a conversation on the  Watch why don't a get a notification or tap every time they reply? Is it because that conversation is what is open on the  Watch? If I left that screen & went somewhere else would I then get a notification/tap?

Yeah, it might be because "...that conversation is what is open on the  Watch..." I put my arm down after I respond, and then I get notified when the person responds again.

It's the same on the iPhone when the iMessage app is active/open.

If your app is opened up, then you will not get a notification or tap. You need to close your app in order for the apple watch to notify you.

You should get a notification even if that was the last app you had open but you have turned your wrist away so the screen goes out.
