Try rebooting the watch. This is what finally made it work for me.

I had to reboot my Mac. Until then, it kept failing. But as above, rebooting Watch is a good idea as well.

Which Mac do you have? It doesn't work with all models.

Also, try rebooting all devices, one at a time. Mac, phone, then watch. Here's some more info:

It's a nice convenience not to have to type a password. It's been pretty consistent for me on my MBP.

I just upgraded my iMac (2015), and all is working well with the unlocking using the Apple Watch. Just took a moment to setup the Two -Step Authentication...

After restarting both devices, is it working correctly now?

Yeap I'm on the latest update for all my iDevices.

I rarely wear my Apple Watch anyways nowadays

I had also a lot of problems with this. This is the trick: go to the bluetooth settings on your mac and delete all the previous connected devices. Now it works 100%

Works fine for me too. If I had to be nit-picky, it does take a little time to unlock (at least on my MBP). I could have the thing unlocked faster if I type in my password.
