I ordered a stand for my watch to keep on my night table. One that will hold my phone and watch. That way everything has its place.

Exactly! .......I don't use and have never used a stand for any of the watches I've ever owned so why would I use one for the Watch? A stand for it is impractical, in my opinion.

The difference for me is the charging cable and the price of the watch. I've never spent this much on a watch and don't want it to scratch or get pulled around by the charging cable.

I think the biggest change for the Watch that lends to a stand is the inductive charging. With the iPhone unless you have a dock that has the connector integrated there is user action to plug it in. With the Watch all you need to do is drop it on the charging disk and poof. Charging! With a stand it gives you the place to store the charging puck to make that action easy.
