How can I copy movies manually onto my Apple TV?

I have a ton of movies on my external hard drive, how can I move them over manually onto my Apple TV?

Welcome to iMore! You'll have to import the movies into iTunes on a Mac or PC and then sync iTunes to your AppleTV. Keep in mind not all video formats are compatible so you may have to use conversion software first.
