iphone's ipod doesnt work with airplay?

I have an iphone4 and i have succesfully used airplay with you tube to stream to the apple tv. Now, I just tried to stream music from the iphone's ipod, and the airplay icon is not there?
Am I missing something or is this another one of apple's control freak things?

Just worked flawlessly for me. Do you have the remote app? Not sure if it is needed, but I do have it installed and it is the only place I can think of on the iPhone that mentions home sharing.

Thanks, I actually got it working by just rebooting the phone.

Happened to me a few times

I just change the iPhone language from British english to American English and then back again - all sorted. Quicker than a full iPhone reboot.
