I read on mashable that the iPod shuffle and nano do not work with apple music. This is due to the fact of being unable to sign into your iTunes account via device.

Welcome to iMore! Apple Music requires iOS or iTunes for OSX/Windows. iPod Shuffle doesn't run either of those. Sorry!
