Apple Music free trial--can't transfer playlist from pc to iPad

I signed up for Apple Music 3-month trial and created a playlist on my pc. Am trying to transfer to my iPad and it only transferred 4 out of 35 songs. I get a message saying that some songs were not transferred because they "cannot be transferred to iPad," or something to that effect. Another error message says something about a subscription required. Is this in addition to the Apple Music free trial? Or am I doing something wrong?

I've steered clear of Music myself. But hopefully someone who knows will come along soon. Welcome to iMore!
