Ipod will no longer work when plugged into my car stereo

I have a 4th generation Ipod touch which I use for music in my car. I plug it into my aftermarket cd player via usb. I have been using this for a couple years with no problems. Yesterday I plugged it in like always and got a message saying this accessory may not be supported by iTunes or something like that. When I go to play a song it looks like it's going to play, and then it reverts back to the playlist and does not play at all. I do not have the original cord that came with it...I have a belkin cord that I bought at Best Buy or something. I know apple products have issues with cords not made by apple but this has worked for years. Why would it suddenly not work? Is it the just the cord? Any ways to fix this or do I just need to buy a official iPod cord?

Re: Ipod will no longer work when plugged into my car stereo

did you update the iOS on your iPad? There may be an incompatibility with the new iOS and the aftermarket audio device... see if the audio device has the ability to update its firmware and if yours is up to date.
