why does my ipod lose it's shuffle function when using it on an isimple

I have a ipod classic that i have used on my isimple connection in my GM pickup. It has worked fine for a couple of years but recently my ipod locked up. After I reset it it will not keep the shuffle function when connected to isimple. It will work until I shut off truck or I get a call through blue tooth in my cell. Then the ipod loses shuffle option. Apple store swapped out my ipod but it still failed. I bought new ipod and it worked for about a week then when I started my truck the radio on said ipod connected. I had to unhook the isimple cable from the ipod adapter and rehook to get the radio to display the song and artist but again lost the shuffle function.
Any ideas?

See if there's an update to the firmware of your vehicle's audio system...
