I haven't used/tested the BeatsX, but the Apple AirPods Charging case is a perfect reason why I don't have any interest in any other earbuds....Pocket Perfect...

There's an app you install for updates of some kind. I have it on my MacBook.

If I was to buy the BeatsX over the AirPods it would be for the sounds quality but they are so tinny there's no way I could spend $150 on them. I'm interested to know what those of you who went with the BeatsX think of their decision now.

It's called Beats Updater. I think you download from the Beats website when you register your Beats.

OK so now I own both the BeatsX and the AirPods and I have found they both have their place. The BeatsX are my new sleep headphones. Since they sit flush in the ear you can roll around and they don't hurt your ears. The AirPods are still my daily carry since they are super convenient. I picked up a pair of Spigen AirPods hooks so they are more secure when I workout, but they are really not necessary. They stay in fine without hooks too.
